A PhD Candidate at Warsaw University of Technology Combines a Career as an Oncological Surgeon and a Mechatronics Engineer
MSc Eng. Dr. Krzysztof Winiarz graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics at Rzeszów University of Technology, specializing in Mechatronics and Robotics. He completed his master's thesis entitled: “Development of a Vision-Based Measurement System for Determining Angular Rotation and Displacement Using the MATLAB Environment”. Immediately after earning his master's degree, he began medical studies at the Medical University of Lublin. He is currently a practicing oncological surgeon and a PhD candidate in Biomedical Engineering. In his professional work, Krzysztof combines mechatronics and medicine. His research interests include reducing the invasiveness of oncological surgery and advancing medical innovation.
Krzysztof has participated in numerous scientific conferences, including the 17th TYGIEL Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference in 2025, where he presented on visual prosthetics in a talk titled “Methods of Restoring Vision - Visual Prostheses.” He also spoke at the 2nd National Conference on Urology and Nephrology, presenting “Metastatic Kidney Cancer Through the Eyes of an Oncological Surgeon,” and at the 6th National Scientific Conference “Cancer Diseases as a Challenge for Medical Sciences in the 21st Century,” where he delivered a presentation entitled “A 53-Year-Old Man with Concurrent Cutaneous Melanoma and a Large Trichoepithelioma in an Unusual Location.” The work on this latter topic was published as a chapter in the monograph “Modern Oncology: Diagnostics, Therapies, and Challenges,” edited by I. Mołdoch-Mendoń and A. Danielewska (Lublin, 2025).
In his free time, the PhD candidate enjoys repairing electronic and mechatronic equipment, reading technical guides and manuals, and has a keen interest in agriculture
